02The Story
Manchester is a 2,525 SF split-level in Cary, NC — a dated home that needed more than cosmetic updates. Hykal Homes redesigned the layout, created a new master suite, reconfigured the bathrooms, opened the kitchen and living area, and added laundry, mudroom, and home office spaces. The renovated property became an Airbnb serving families visiting Cary and the surrounding area.

Where We Started.
Split-level homes present specific design challenges — the layout can feel disconnected, the flow between levels awkward, and the spaces dated in ways that go beyond finishes. Manchester needed a rethinking of how the home worked, not just how it looked.

04What We Saw
We saw a home in a great location with a layout that was working against it. The split-level format wasn't the problem — the way the spaces were organized was. With the right changes, the home could become something genuinely desirable.
05What We Changed
Layout Changes
The layout was reconfigured to improve flow and connectivity between the home's levels and spaces — changes that addressed the fundamental issues with the original split-level design.
New Master Suite
A new master suite was created as part of the renovation — a private, well-designed space that the original home lacked.
Open Kitchen + Living
The kitchen and living area were opened and redesigned — creating the connected, flowing main floor that the home needed.
Reconfigured Bathrooms
The bathrooms were reconfigured as part of the renovation scope — updated and repositioned to serve the new layout.
Laundry, Mudroom + Home Office
Laundry, mudroom, and home office spaces were added — functional elements that make the home work for the people living in it.
